Hyderabad, November 21: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has lodged a complaint with the Returning Officer of Malakpet, asserting that the Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Shaik Akbar failed to disclose certain pertinent facts about a criminal case in his affidavit.
BSP candidate Algola Ramesh alleged that Shaik Akbar, contesting from Malakpet, omitted mentioning a criminal case filed against him under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the L B Nagar police station in 2020. The BSP raised concerns about the alleged concealment of this information in Akbar’s affidavit, a crucial document outlining the candidate’s background and legal history.
The BSP’s complaint implies that the lack of disclosure regarding the criminal case in Akbar’s affidavit might raise questions about the candidate’s compliance with election norms and the transparency required in the submission of candidature documents.
The complaint filed by the BSP against the INC candidate adds a layer of contention to the electoral landscape in Malakpet, prompting scrutiny over the completeness and accuracy of the affidavits submitted by candidates contesting in the upcoming elections.
As the electoral process progresses, the allegations made by the BSP against Shaik Akbar have added an element of legal and ethical scrutiny to the election proceedings, shedding light on the significance of accurate and comprehensive disclosures by candidates in their affidavits.
