Consul General of Japan Awarded Commendation to Dr. Siddiq Mahmoodi for his role in India’s better relation with Japan

The Consul General of Japan in Chennai, H.E Kojiro Uchiyama, conferred the “Consul General Commendation Award” on Dr. Syed Mohammed Siddiq Mahmoodi, Founder – Golden Dragons School of Martial Arts

Hyderabad (Rahnuma) The Consul General of Japan in Chennai, H.E Kojiro Uchiyama, conferred the “Consul General Commendation Award” on Dr. Syed Mohammed Siddiq Mahmoodi, Founder – Golden Dragons School of Martial Arts, in recognition of the services rendered by individuals to promote Indo-Japan relations, here on Sunday.

Dr. Siddiq Mahmoodi was nominated for this award for his dedicated and untiring services in promoting Indo-Japan cultural relations through his teachings of Traditional Japanese Martial Arts to civilians & armed personnel since 1986. He had introduced various unique Samurai arts like Iaido, Kendo, Battodo, Chanbara, Kenbu & Tankendo in India and represented the nation in many international events held in Japan & other countries achieving different ranks, awards & recognitions. Dr. Siddiq Mahmoodi became the only person to be awarded such a high honor in the two Telugu speaking states.

The Consul General of Japan spoke in brief about the work of Dr. Siddiq Mahmoodi, praised his remarkable 33 years of dedicated service and recollected Dr. Siddiq Mahmoodi’s pioneering of Kendo in 2000 & Chanbara in 2009 for India.

He also added that Dr. Siddiq Mahmoodi’s efforts have strengthened the relationship between Japan and India.

Dr. Siddiq Mahmoodi, after receiving his award, thanked the Consul General for recognizing his services & honoring him with such a prestigious award. He said ”such an award cannot be bought or claimed, this honor is awarded to those working only with focused & dedicated services in promoting Indo-Japan relations.”

Dr. Siddiq Mahmoodi was previously awarded the “Honorary Citizenship of Miyoshi, Japan” in 2006 for his contribution to traditional Japanese Martial Arts.

Various dignitaries at the occasion, include intellectuals, Japanese Martial Arts experts, Government representatives, and academicians. Barkat Alam Khan who represented his father Ahmed Alam Khan in the occasion congratulated Dr. Siddiq Mahmoodi and praised his dedication towards the Japanese arts.

Syed Ahmed Hussaini (President Qadria International) narrated Dr. Siddiq Mahmoodi’s untiring contributions and achievements to the attendees and mentioned in what way Dr. Siddiq Mahmoodi was invited to the International championships in Jubail during 2002 & 2003.

The Consul General presented the certificate of Commendation to Dr. Siddiq Mahmoodi on Sunday 3rd November 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Nehru Auditorium, Nampally, Hyderabad.
