DMK Extends Support to Congress in Telangana Assembly Elections

Hyderabad, November 21: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), under the leadership of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, has officially announced its support for the Congress party in the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana.

In a formal statement released on Tuesday, November 21, the DMK instructed its Telangana unit to collaborate with the Congress party, forming an Election Working Committee (EWC) to strategize and coordinate efforts in the electoral arena.

The directive from the DMK further urged all its units and members in Telangana to actively engage and mobilize support for Congress candidates, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in ensuring a successful electoral outcome.

This alliance between the DMK and Congress in Telangana marks a significant development, aligning with their existing partnership in Tamil Nadu. Both parties have joined forces as part of the Opposition INDIA bloc, uniting against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections next year.

The DMK’s decision to back the Congress in Telangana reflects a broader strategy among opposition parties to forge alliances and consolidate support bases, aiming to present a unified front against the ruling party in electoral battles across various states. This collaboration also highlights the growing trend of regional parties extending support to each other to counter dominant political forces at the national level.

As the electoral dynamics evolve in Telangana, the alliance between the DMK and Congress is poised to impact the political landscape, shaping the contest in the state’s Assembly elections and potentially influencing the future political equations in the region.
