RAMALLAH (Rahnuma): A Palestinian official said on Wednesday that an Egyptian delegation will meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas soon over Palestinian internal reconciliation.
The delegation will also meet with Islamic Hamas movement officials in the Gaza Strip, as there are “important developments on the Hamas’ position toward the reconciliation issue,” Azzam Al-Ahmad, a member of the Fatah party central committee, told the official Palestinian radio station Voice of Palestine.
The Egyptian delegation will “work on ironing out impediments to national reconciliation,” he said.
Fatah and Hamas have been accusing each other of disrupting the national reconciliation deal signed between the two parties.
The internal division between Fatah and Hamas began in the summer of 2007 after Hamas militarily seized the Gaza Strip from the security forces of the Palestinian Authority.
