MAKKAH (RAHNUMA) Monday, 22 Nov 2021 — The former imam of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia has made a brilliant appearance in a promotional video clip for a fighting game show. The video is part of the Riyadh Season 2021 program.

On Thursday, Shaykh Adil Al-Kalbani, 62, appeared in a video posted on Twitter by the head of Saudi Arabia’s Entertainment Authority, Turki Al-Sheikh. The video promotes the adventurous “Field of Combat” event that will run until March 16 next year.

Al-Kalbani appeared wearing military uniform and leading the battle. The video whuch is seen as inspiring to young Saudis has been viewed more than five million times in less than 24 hours.

Many netizens applauded the cleric’s participation in the video. They called Al-Kalbani a a visionary and recognized his support for the Vision 2030 reforms.

Many netizens were surprised by the inclusion of the former imam of Makkah and welcomed it.

One of the Twitter accounts that applauded Al-Kalbani said, “He is promoting Saudi festivals, and the call of duty to one’s nation. Defending KSA is defending the holy cities, and the holy cities are the heart of Islam. He is doing a wonderful job,” said the netizen.

Meanwhile, Al-Kalbani did not appear to be serious about responding to those who opposed his appearance and instead asked in jest, “Do you think I can go to Hollywood?” he said.
