Hyderabad, April 8 (INN): GHMC has set up 12 containment clusters to combat Covid-19 spread, said GHMC Commissioner D.S.Lokesh kumar.
The GHMC Commissioner said as per the instructions of the government, GHMC officials and staff have been working in coordination with Police, Revenue and Health department officials. He said 12 containment clusters have been established at Ramgopalpet, Sheikhpet, Red Hills, Malakpet -Santoshnagar, Chandrayangutta, Alwal, Moosapet, Kukatpally, Qutubullapur -Gajularamaram, Mayurinagar, Yosufguda and Chandanagar.
The GHMC Commissioner said that 89 Corona positive cases have been registered in those areas. He said special attention was being paid to sanitation and spraying of disinfectant in these clusters. Apart from this a team consisting of Health and GHMC officials are going to each and every household to identify those who are symptomatic and getting them tested. In these identified clusters, public movements are monitored and barricading is done to keep check on public movement. Regarding this discussions were held with City police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, he added.
Barricading and bandobust will continue till some stipulated period, he said. Out of 593 people who returned from Markaz, 63 people tested corona positive. With this 45 family members got effected with Covid-19. Now there is a chance of Corona cases decrease, he added. Those who are tested and found Corona positive are shifted to government isolation centers.
To avoid hardships of public, the GHMC Commissioner said 330 mobile Rythu Bazars are supplying vegetables in their localities. As per the announcement made by the government 12 kg free rice and Rs. 500/- cash is distributed to migrant labour. To maintain social distancing marking is painted at groceries shops. Social distancing is also maintained at fair price shops. Nearly 3,400 homeless identified and are accommodated in 14 night shelters, as well as in 12 temporary shelters ,he told.
Due to lockdown instructions business firms, industries and educational institutions are closed down. In view of this those who are homeless are being fed with Annapurna meal. Apart from this, GHMC has issued passes to 145 donors to distribute food in 400 locations of the city. Around 50,000 people are fed by these 145 donors. Along with this, soaps, oil, rice are being distributed to the inmates of shelter homes donated by 93 Voluntary organisations and donors.
The GHMC Commissioner said that all precautionary steps were being taken for the safety of sanitation workers. Masks are being supplied to all workers through Zonal Commissioners. Nearly 60,000 re-usable cloth masks are getting stitched by SHG women. He said another 30,000 cloth masks would be ready and in a span of four days. An order has been placed to supply health kit consisting of gloves, mask, soap, shoes and other required material and these kits will be distributed among workers in a week’s time, he told. From now on wearing mask and gloves health kit will be made mandatory, he added.
