Governor asks Red Cross to educate people on Covid-19

Hyderabad, March 27 (INN): Telangana Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundrarajan on Friday directed the all district branches of Red Cross to to educate people on Covid-19 and its spread.

In a review meeting held a Raj Bhavan today, the Governor said in view of scarcity of blood all unit heads of police force and General Officer Commanding (GOC), Telangana and Andhra Sub Area should cooperate with IRCS in conducting voluntary blood donation camps in their respective organizations, to supply blood to Thalassemia children and patients of urgent surgeries.

Raj Bhavan in coordination with Red Cross is arranging supply of essential commodities 15 days to about 1000 poor and vulnerable families in the slum opposite to Raj Bhavan.

The Governor has requested all 15 lakh strong Junior Red cross/ Youth Red cross volunteers in the State to take care of at last two poor and vulnerable families in all respects during the crisis. She advised the Red Cross district branches to handover list of Red Cross volunteers with their contact details to the District Collectors concerned for effective utilization of their services in containing the spread of novel corona virus.

Red Cross developed IEC material on the personal hygiene, hand washing, Social Distancing etc., and distributed to all the 33 district branches for distribution in vulnerable communities in the districts.
