Hyderabad, April 3 (INN): President of India Ramnath Kovind, along with Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, today held a video-conference with the Governors, Lieutenant Governors and Administrators of States/UTs and discussed ways to contribute to the measures taken by the Government of India and the State Governments in response to the outbreak of COVID-19.
Today’s conference was a sequel to the video conference held on March 27 with the Governors/LGs of select States/UTs on the issue. The President emphasized the need to ensure that no one remains hungry during the nationwide lockdown.
In a report submitted Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has informed that, the state is under lockdown till April 14. She further informed that, Epidemic Disease Act has been invoked from 20th March. SoPs on Hospital Management, Clinical Management, etc., have been developed with the support of Central Govt Guidelines and WHO. She said that the State Government has allocated Rs 457.75 Crores budget for COVID-19.
The Governor further informed that as on Friday, 152 positive cases are reported and 9 deaths have occurred in the State. As many as 26,586 persons, who have history of foreign travel, and their contacts are kept under home quarantine. Of them, 19,364 have completed home quarantine till to date and 7,222 are still in quarantine. By 7th of April all will be completing home quarantine, she said.
Dr. Soundararjan said that six labs have been set up in government hospitals. They include Gandhi Medical College, Osmania Medical College, Fever Hospital and Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences . The other labs are at CCMB and Institute of Preventive Medicine.
The Governor said that so far 2400 samples have been tested and 152 were found to be positive. A total of 31 Hospitals with 12,500 beds (11,000 isolation beds & 1,500 ICU beds) have been established for clinical management.
