I will not contest assembly elections if I get PCC Chief post: Cong MLA Jagga Reddy

Hyderabad, Nov.16 (NSS): Congress party MLA from Sangareddy Thoorpu Jayaprakash Reddy on Saturday said that he would not contest in the upcoming assembly elections scheduled to be held in 2023 if he was given the post of PCC president by the party high command. He said that the party president Sonia Gandhi had formed a separate Telangana state for the fulfilment of the long cherished dreams of the people of Telangana. He also said that People of the state voted for Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao as they thought he would develop it.

Addressing media persons at assembly media hall Reddy said that the state government was deliberately trying to make the ongoing RTC strike problem do a complex one. He said that the workers had been on the strike since the last 43 days and added that the state government had been deliberately delaying the process of holding discussion with the workers. He made it clear that the people of the state would suffer a lot if the corporation was privatised by the state government. He said that the ticket prices would be under the reach of common man if it was run by the state government. He told the state government that the people of states where the corporation was privatised were facing so many problems in their respective states. He warned the state government that the private operators would only work for profits and not for the public good while noting that only poor people and those who did not have money would use the RTC services. Commenting on the Sadak bandh program of the RTC workers, he said that they would take up the program on November 19 on Sangareddy highway and block the entire stretch as per the instructions of TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and senior V. Hanumantha Rao. He warned the state government of intensifying their agitation if it did not solve the problems of the RTC workers at the earliest. Reddy said that he would go to Delhi on November 20 and request the party high command to appoint him as the next PCC chief.

He also said that he had already sent his bio data to the party high command by registered post. He said that he was requesting the party high command to appoint him as the PCC chief as he was capable of bringing back the party into power after the 2023 elections in the State.
