Hyderabad, july.4 (NSS): With economic activities under suspension or being carried out in a limited manner, with the cases of COVID-19 increasing, a humanitarian challenge is unfolding day by day. People at the bottom of the pyramid, especially, the migrant workers in cities, factory workers, daily wage earners, farm laborers, etc. are the worst affected and struggling to arrange daily essentials such as food and medicine.
CII in collaboration with corporates is extending all possible support to the affected people during times of such crisis. The Relief and Rehabilitation Interventions of CII included distribution of Personal Protective Equipment, Hygiene kits, Ration kits and other daily essentials among vulnerable communities.
IKEA in collaboration with CII Telangana donated Rs. 20 Lakhs worth of relief materials for Urban Shelter Homes run by MEPMA across the state and also to Child Care Institutions run by Department of Women & Child Development, Government of Telangana.
The donated items include blankets, bedsheets, steel utensils, toys, cutlery items, mugs etc.
On 04 July, IKEA-CII team met with Shri. KT Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister of MA&UD, Industries and Commerce and IT, E&C Government of Telangana briefed about the relief support provided so far. Hon’ble Minister highly appreciated this kind gesture to support the vulnerable people.
