Iran will not allow Israel, U.S. to threaten region’s security: Iranian diplomat

BEIRUT, July 17 (Xinhua) — A senior Iranian diplomat said Wednesday that Iran and its allies will not allow Israel and the United States to jeopardize the region’s security and stability, the National News Agency reported.

“Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is making dangerous movements in the region to gain popularity in his country. These movements and threats are not in the interest of the region,” Hossein Amir-abdollahian, special aide to Iranian President Ali Larijani in international affairs, said during his meeting with House Speaker Nabih Berri.

Abdollahian also emphasized the importance of keeping Lebanon away from the conflicts taking place in the region.

“We believe that security in Lebanon is very important to achieve security in Iran and the whole region,” he said.

The Iranian diplomat also assured that Iran will always be of great support to the Lebanese population, army and resistance.

“We are looking forward to boosting ties with the country on all levels,” he said.
