BAGHDAD, Feb. 24 (Rahnuma): The Iraqi President Barham Salih Sunday met with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi with the aim of enhancing joint cooperation in various fields.
The meeting came on the sidelines of the two-day European Union (EU) and Arab League (AL) Summit in Egypt’s Sharm al-Sheikh.
Salih asserted “the importance of joint cooperation between brothers and friends to overcome differences and adopt a constructive dialogue to resolve them,” a statement by Salih’s media office said.
The two presidents discussed the bilateral relations and means to promote them, as well as the contribution of Egyptian companies in reconstructing Iraqi areas liberated from the Islamic State (IS) and investments in the economic, oil and energy fields, the statement said.
They also discussed the issues on the agenda of EU-AL conference and exchanged views about different issues, it added.
On Feb. 24 – 25, heads of states or governments from the EU and the AL are to convene in Sharm el-Sheikh for the first ever EU-AL summit.
