Hyderabad, Nov.11 (NSS): Senior Congress leader T. Jeevan Reddy on Sunday demanded that TRS MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha make public the complete details of Rs 106 crore spent for the welfare of the Gulf workers. He said the claims made by the TRS MP were totally false.
Jeevan Reddy made these remarks while addressing a gathering at Rangampeta village under Sarangapur mandal from Jagityal district of the State. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “TRS leaders promised to give Rs 5 lakh exgratia to the family members of all Gulf workers, who died abroad in their election manifesto. However, they did not give single penny so far. All that they did for the welfare of the Gulf victims was to launch an ambulance service to transport bodies of the Gulf workers, who died while discharging their duties.
What is shocking was the fact that the TRS government had even removed the Rs One lakh ex-gratia scheme launched by the Congress government,” he said. Reddy advised the TRS MP and other leaders to talk about their achievements during their four-and-a-half years long rule instead of demanding the Congress leaders about their achievements.
Noting the statement of Kavitha that the file pertaining to the provision of compensation of the gulf workers was in circulation, he said that such a statement itself was a clear proof how caring the TRS leaders towards the welfare of the victims. Reddy promised that the Congress government would give Rs.5. lakh each exgratia to 1260 gulf victims after coming into power in the state. (NSS)
