Jordan king to begin four-nation tour Wednesday

AMMAN (Rahnuma) : Jordanian King Abdullah II on Wednesday will set out on a five-day international tour that will bring him to Morocco, Italy, France and Tunisia.

According to a Tuesday statement released by Jordan’s Royal Court, the king will begin his tour in Morocco, where he is slated to meet his Moroccan counterpart, King Mohammed VI.

He will then visit the Italian city of Assisi, where he is set to receive the “Lamp of Peace”, a Catholic award for promoting coexistence.

He will receive the award in the presence of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who received the same award last year.

The king will then head to Paris, where he is slated to meet President Emmanuel Macron, with whom he plans to discuss developments in the Middle East region.

King Abdullah will wrap up his tour in Tunisia, where he is scheduled to attend a major Arab League summit on Sunday.
