Hyderabad, March 19 (NSS): BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha left New Delhi on a special flight from Begumpet Airport here on Sunday.
Kavitha was accompanied by IT Minister and his brother KT Rama Rao and MP Santosh Kumar, who departed the national capital.
According to sources, advocates and senior members of the BRS legal cell have also headed to Delhi.
On the other hand, the suspense continues whether Kavitha will appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) or not.
On March 16, she skipped the appearance before the ED and gave a reply to the investigation agency through her representative and BRS general secretary Soma Bharat Kumar, asserting that no woman shall be compelled to attend as a witness anywhere other than where she resides. Kavitha noted in her letter to ED assistant director Jogender that while the summons does not require her to appear in person, she was sending her authorised representative.
However, hours after receiving the letter from Bharat Kumar, the ED issued fresh summons to Kavitha asking her to appear before the agency on March 20.
Earlier, the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was questioned for hours by the Enforcement Directorate in the same case on March 11. Later, Kavitha was summoned on March 16 but she skipped appearance and sought time, also citing that the Supreme Court is to hear her plea against the summons on March 24.
Kavitha has alleged a political conspiracy behind the ED summons. Her party leaders have also said that the probe agency has become an extended arm of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The BRS leader has alleged that she was summoned by the probe agency on the basis of statements made under threat and coercion. (NSS)
