Hyderabad, Jan.2 (NSS): IT Minister K T Rama Rao today announced 2020 as Year of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Telangana State. He unveiled a poster and logo in this regard at a program here.
In a significant development, the IIT Kharagpur has signed an agreement with the State government on Artificial Intelligence. The Telangana government signed a few memoranda of understanding with some noted companies.
Speaking on the occasion, the IT minister said Telangana will observe the 2020 Year as Artificial Intelligence and push for development. The government has signed MoUs with Intelligence, P, HFI, Vividha, Hexagon and others, he said. He also expressed happiness that the State government has signed up with the IIT Kharagpur for setting up of a center for excellence in Artificial Intelligence Institute in Hyderabad.
The minister said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was keen on pushing AI to a new high for rapid growth and development. He said as part of the program to boost IT sector and artificial intelligence, the IIT Hyderabad will act as strategic partner in providing infrastructure and basic facilities. KTR listed Telangana government’s initiatives to boost new businesses and industries through TSiPASS giving all the required permissions in two weeks. This policy got wide applause at the national level and several States plan to replicate the same, he claimed.
The minister launched pilot projects of Registration and Police departments on the occasion. Secretary Jayesh Ranjan inaugurated Telangana Year in IA website to mark the event.
