Hyderabad, April.28 : Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development K Tarakarama Rao today inaugurated Hyderabad’s Mind Space Underpass, the second project under the signal-free traffic corridors in Greater Hyderabad constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 25.78 crore.
The Mind Space underpass happens to be the second successful project under the Strategic Road Development Plan. Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), the prestigious initiative of the State government to address traffic problems on busy stretches of the city, is all set to log its second milestone.
As per the survey, some 14,400 vehicles pass through this stretch every hour now and the number of vehicles by the year 2035 is expected to shoot up to 31,356 every hour.
Apart from Mindspace Junction, three other multi-level/grade separators are at Biodiversity Junction, Ayyappa Society and Rajiv Gandhi statue junction with all the components costing Rs 379 crore. Apart from this facility, the underpass at Chintalkunta checkpost too has been completed and was ready for inauguration.
He requested the Union Government to support for overall development of Hyderabad as the Telangana government was requesting the Centre to allot 100 acres of Defence land for construction of Expressways, the minister said.
The Telangana government has prepared all the designs for construction of expressways from JBS to Thumkunta and from Patny to Suchitra junction. HMDA was prepared to take up the works at a cost of Rs.2,500 crore. KTR also announced that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari would be laying the foundation for skyways at Uppal and Amberpet on May 5

Gandhi, MLA, Baba Fasiuddin, Deputy Mayor, Bharathi Holikeri, GHMC Incharge Commissioner, Sruthi Ojha, Addl. Commissioner, R. Sreedhar, Chief Engineer and senior officials of various wings participated in the inaugural function.
