KUWAIT CITY (Rahnuma): Kuwait will witness the longest day of the year on Saturday, Khaled Al-Jumaan, the Kuwaiti astronomer, said on Thursday.
Day time on Saturday will extend for 14 hours and two minutes, and night will be nine hours and 58 minutes, he noted.
He pointed out that the reason is due to the geographical location of Kuwait being located in the northern tip of the Gulf.
This phenomenon is repeated every year due to the apparent movement of the sun’s rays and reaching its maximum extent in the northern hemisphere, he explained.
“The effect of this phenomenon is limited to the heat factor that is increasing during this period of the year,” he said.
One of the main factors for the increase in temperature during this period is the high angle of the fall of the sun that is semi-vertical on the region, specifically Kuwait, in addition to the increase in the number of heating hours, he added.
