Araku, Sept.23 (NSS): The Maoists have thrown a claw on high profile persons after one-and-a-half decade in Visakha agency. The murder of Araku MLA Surveshwara Rao and former MLA Silveri Soma has become a sensation in the two Telugu states.
The Maoists killed the then Tribal Welfare Minister M Mani Kumari’s husband Venkataraju on March 18, 2004. In the later years, the Maoists killed tribals dubbing them as informers and also warned people of dire consequences.
However, Maoists’ influence decreased drastically as several Maoists were killed in recent encounters. But suddenly, the Maoists proved their presence again by killing MLA and former MLA today in the Visakha agency near Odisha State border.
