Minister appeals to Anganwadi workers to call off agitation

Hyderabad, Sept.22 (NSS): Minister for Tribal Welfare Satyavathi Rathod has appealed to Anganwadi workers to call off their ongoing agitation and to resume duties immediately.

Speaking at a press conference here on Friday, the Minister said the State government is ready to discuss all the issues related to Anganwadi workers and it is not correct to go on the agitation despite the G.O. issued by the government.

Satyavathi Rathod said that due to the agitation of Anganwadi workers, most of the pregnant women, infants and children who mostly belong to the weaker sections of the society were falling in trouble.

” It is not the right thing for Anganwadi workers to put all the people in trouble, Satyavathi Rathod pointed out.

Stating that the BRS government is supporting the Anganwadi workers in every way like no other State in the country, the Minister alleged that some leaders are deliberately misleading the workers for political gain.

The Minister said the demand of regularising Anganwadi workers is under the jurisdiction of the union government and the State government can’t do anything in this regard.

“On behalf of the State government, we are ready to write a letter to the Union government seeking to resolve the problems of Anganwadi workers. If necessary, the Ministers from Telangana will personally meet the Union Ministers and will ask them to resolve the issues,” she said.

The Minister said the State government is giving PRC to Anganwadi workers on par with government employees in Telangana and such facility is nowhere in the country.

She said the Anganwadi workers should realise the facts and resume duties immediately.

Bharti Holikeri, Secretary of Women Development Welfare department, JD Lakshmi Devi and other officials were also present in the media conference. (NSS)
