Hyderabad, June 8 (INN): Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that through the Mission Kakatiya undertaken by the state government, the problem of drinking and irrigation water has been solved by developing the ponds. As part of the Decade Celebrations, he participated as the chief guest in the pond festival program held at Lotus Pond in Khairatabad constituency on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the ponds built during the Kakatiya period were buried and encroached due to lack of proper management and supervision. He said that the Telangana government under the leadership of Chief Minister KCR has worked hard to preserve these and bring them to glory. It is stated that groundwater has increased with the restoration of ponds.
He said that under the Mission Kakatiya program 46,623 pond embankments in the state have been strengthened, culverts and canals repaired. He explained that today the ponds are full of water. He said that along with the development of the ponds, the surroundings will become very beautiful and the people will get a pleasant atmosphere. It was revealed that with the construction of new reservoirs, restoration of ponds and construction of check dams, the underground water has increased significantly, thus the area of cultivated land has increased and the yield of crops has increased significantly.
Fishermen and farmers are very happy with the availability of abundant irrigation water due to the release of fishlings in all the water bodies of the state as per the Chief Minister’s orders. Later, the minister unveiled the books prepared on the occasion of the decade celebrations. Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, MLA Danam Nagender, corporators Manne Kavitha, Sangeeta, Venkatesh, Chairman Prasanna, Zonal Commissioner Ravi Kiran, RDO Vasantha, CE Suresh officers participated in this program.
