Hyderabad, Jan 30 (RAHNUMA): Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao on Monday demanded that the Centre grant 12 crore mandays days under the rural employment guarantee scheme for the coming financial year in Telangana state.
Dayakar Rao reviewed the progress of Panchayat Raj roads maintenance, repairs, new road works, working days provided under Employment Guarantee Scheme, the material component works – funds along with Panchayat Raj, Rural Development Chief Secretary Sandeep Sultania, Commissioner Hanmantha Rao, Employment and Guarantee Scheme Special Commissioner Prasad and others.
He instructed the officials to speed up the works of CC roads sanctioned under Panchayati Raj. He said tenders must be called for road repairs immediately. Similarly, if there was no response in places where tenders were called for the first time, tenders should be called for the second time immediately, he said.
Under the employment and guarantee scheme, nearly 10.5 crore working days have been completed this year and the proposals were sent to the Center to increase this to 12 crore working days and are monitored from time to time. The funds due to the state under the material component are around Rs. 800 crores and have not yet been released by the Centre, said the minister.
