
Hyderabad, Sept.29 (NSS): Special Sessions Judge for POCSO Court, Nampally T. Anitha convicted Chinthala Manikya Rao under Sections 366, 376(3) & 376 (2)(n) IPC and Sec. 5 (1) read with 6 of POCSO Act and sentenced to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment of 20 years and to pay a fine of Rs 10,000.
Police said the victim aged 15 years was residing with her paternal grand mother. During holidays, the victim used to visit her father’s house. In the adjacent house, the accused also resided as a tenant. The accused was abusing the victim by touching her private parts since she was in her 4th standard. When the victim was bathing and changing her dress, the accused took photos and videos and started threatening her that he would upload it on the YOUTUBE and FACEBOOK and sexually assaulted her repeatedly.
Further, he threatened the victim not to reveal his crime to anybody, otherwise he would kill her father and brother. Since April 2018, she was not getting regular periods and was suffering with stomach pain. When her grand mother enquired, she revealed that the accused was sexually abusing her for the last four years. Then her grand mother complained to the Chilkalguda Police and shifted the victim to Bharosa Centre where her statement was recorded.
Upon the receipt of the complaint, K. Venkat Reddy Sub-Inspector of Police, registered FIR in Cr.No. 349/2018, U/sec. 363 & 376 (2)(i)(n) IPC and Sec. 5 (1) r/w 6 of POCSO Act 2012 and took up investigation. After thorough inquiry, P. Venkata Ramana, ACP, Gopalpuram Division, Secunderabad, filed chargesheet U/sec. 366, 376(3) & 376 (2)(n) IPC and Sec. 5 (1) r/w 6 of POCSO Act.
The Bharosa Centre facilitated the victim’s family in counselling, Medical support, Legal support, financial support, submission of documents for compensations, apart from home visit by Bharosa staff.
The concerted efforts by the Investigating Officers K. Venkat Reddy SI, Chilkalguda PS and P. Venkata Ramana, ACP, Gopalpuram Division, Secunderabad, Pratap Reddy, Public Prosecutor, Kalpana, Legal Support Officer, Bharosa, contributed immensely during the course of trial which ended in conviction, being awarded by T. Anitha, Special Sessions Judge for POCSO Court, Nampally, Hyderabad.
The concerted efforts of Police officers and officers at Bharosa Centre were closely monitored by D Kavitha, DCP, Women Safety, Prasanna Lakshmi, ACP, Women Safety, Hyderabad apart from Inspector Bharosa and Centre Coordinator.
