Owner of Goa company arrested from New Delhi in ketamine racket

MUMBAI: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials on Friday arrested Jimi Sandhu, owner of Vijay Industries located in Goa, for manufacturing ketamine, a narcotic substance, in one of the units.

Sandhu, who was arrested from Delhi, will be brought to Mumbai. Till now, the DRI has arrested 11 people, including two UK nationals and a vitnem citizen, in the racket. On Friday, DRI officials produced four accused before the magistrate court which remanded them to police custody till Monday. While Jonathan Thorn alias John and Barry John Bracken are UK nationals, Nguyen Man Cuong is from Vietnam.DRI has seized 308 kg ketamine, 1.5 kg opinim, 7.8 kg  totally valued at Rs 40 crore.

Police have also arrested Rahul Shedge, an old hand in the drug cartel. He was earlier arrested in 2009 and 2012, but after his release he ganged up with the other accused and set up the ketamine manufacturing unit under the banner of Jai Vijay Industries at Rasaini. Other key accused include Purohit Jagdishbhai and Ishrat Parmar from Gujrat
