Hyderabad (Rahnuma): Congress President Mr. Rahul Gandhi congratulated badminton champion and Olympic medalist Ms. P.V. Sindhu on her recent victory at BWF World Tour. Ms. Sindhu defeated Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in two straight sets to make history as the first Indian to win the BWF World Tour trophy.
In a congratulatory letter presented to Ms. Sindhu by AICC Member and TPCC Research Secretary Mr. Aamer Javeed, Mr. Gandhi lauded her determination and called her victory “a ray of hope for aspiring sportspersons across our country”. The Congress President expressed hope that her success inspires more young women to take up sports. He also stated that he, along with the entire nation, will be rooting for her in the upcoming tournaments and 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
TPCC President and Huzurnagar M.L.A. Mr. Uttam Kumar Reddy also congratulated Ms. Sindhu over the phone and wished her success in all future badminton events. The badminton star is ranked number 3 in Women’s Single World Ranking and is presently playing at the Premier Badminton League.
