Saudi mission to UN celebrates KSA’s candidate to Committee on the Elimination of All Form of Racial Discrimination

NEW YORK (Rahnuma):  The Kingdom’s permanent representative to the UN, Abdallah Al-Mouallimi, hosted a reception in honor of Saudi Arabia’s candidate for membership of the UN Committee on the Elimination of All Form of Racial Discrimination (CERD), Dr. Saeed bin Ali Al-Shawaf.

The reception was attended by permanent and deputy representatives, heads and experts of the UN’s Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs Committee and members of the Kingdom’s permanent delegation.

Al-Mouallimi commended Al-Shawaf for his human rights expertise, expressing pride in the candidacy of a Saudi for the membership of such an important international committee.

He thanked Sarah Husseini, chairperson of the nomination department, for her efforts in supporting the candidate and for the work she has done as a member of the Kingdom’s permanent delegation.

The CERD monitors the implementation of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination by states. It is based in Geneva.
