Saudi’s Prince Faisal is guest of honor at German Unity Day Reception

DUBAI: Saudi’s Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdul-Aziz joined German’s at their embassy in Saudi Arabia to mark the Germany Unity Day and celebrated the ongoing bond between the two countries.

The event, which was hosted by Ambassador Dieter W Haller and his wife Nissrine Zarrab-Haller, was attended by more than 800 dignitaries, businesspeople, academics, artists as well as members of the German community in the Kingdom and representatives from the host nation.

Prince Faisal had a brief private meeting with the ambassador before the pair opened Wednesday’s reception.

Ambassador Haller thanked the Saudi Prince for his “commitment to make us foreigners feel at home in Riyadh, and we do feel at home and I can assure you that Riyadh under your leadership is becoming an ever more attractive place to live.”

Referring to a recent visit to Jeddah by Chancellor Merkel in May, he said: “We have been able to add more to our bilateral relations and partnership. We have added strategic content to it and we hope that a number of new avenues for cooperation were pursued during Chancellor Merkel’s recent visit to the kingdom.”

And he invited all Saudis to visit Germany: “We have seen tens of thousands of Saudis traveling to Germany and finding out for themselves that the united Germany is a culturally diverse country.”
