Shadow Bowlers strike for first Team of the Week award

Author: ARAB NEWSThu, 2017-05-25 20:19ID: 1495637197650332200JEDDAH: For once, Shadow Bowlers had reason to cheer after they claimed their first Team of the Week victory during the 15th session in the OFBC Friday Afternoon League Season 6 at the Iceland Bowling Center here.The struggling Shadow Bowlers returned 25 total points on the day in a tie with Toshi but prevailed in the total pinfalls countback 1,948 to 1,882 to become the Team of the Week while denying Toshi back-to-back honors in the four-man tam competition.The Shadow Bowlers’ rise to the honor roll left Youngsters, Arci-5 and Saudi German Hospital as the only teams without an award going into the final month of the tournameng organized by Overseas Filipino Bowling Club.It was a week to remember for Shadow Bowlers if only because they pulled the feat at the expense of three-time Team of the Week RTJ Transient House 18-2.Toshi might have missed a potential back-to-back Team of the Week award despite a 20-0 shutout of Arci-5 on total pinfalls of 1,882-1,686 and rank points of 5 and 1, but its total points were good enough to knock Nilobabes off the top spot in the team standings.Nilobabes fell from No. 1 for the first time since taking over first place from RTJ on the seventh week, as they compiled 21 points in a 12-8 victory over Youngsters on total pinfalls of 2,015-2,056 and rank points of 9-10.Elsewhere, Expendabowls blasted SGH Bowling Group 12-8 (1,872-1,930 4-6) and Velocity Strikers struck down Al-Tayyer United Contracting Co. 12-8 (1,810-1,977 8-2).Named Bowlers of the Week were Toshi’s Cesar Pagtalunan on 594 from the men’s division and Youngsters’ Carol Rio on 560 from the ladies’ side.Veteran bowler Hadi Pacheco and Jhun Ejanda were at the forefront of the Shadow’s charge on 513 and 501. Herie Bosito rolled 478 and Edwin Agustin had 456.Rico Bulalayao shot 568 to back up Pagtalunan at Toshi while skipper Ryan Liwagon added 420.Nilobabes drew 551 and 502 from Lito Zamudio and Susan Patayan, while Nap and Sharmaine rounded out the Patayans’ contribution on 493 and 469.Over at Expendabowls the scorers were Danny Atubang 528, Noli De Leon 475, Maria M. 446 and Keith Reyes 423.Velocity had Jaime “Paco” Flores on 543 followed by Toto Lim 488, Vangie Lim 486 and Darlene Bulalayao 460.Team standings after the 15th week:1.
