Hyderabad, April.24 : Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today said the State government was committed to distribute waters to Suryapet and Tungaturti Assembly segments from the SRSP project.
Along with Power Minister G Jagadish Reddy, MPs Boora Narsaiah Goud, Gutha Sukhender Reddy, and Lingaiah Yadav, the Irrigation Minister inspected the works of the second phase of the SRSP project at Bhaktalapur in Penpahad mandal.
Speaking on the occasion, the irrigation minister said they have expedited the works of SRSP second phase. On completion of the project, water will flow to the canals under the two segments of Tungaturti and Suryapet during Yasangi season, he said. “We have asked the officials to speed up the works to ensure that the two segments in old Nagloda district will get ample waters for cultivation”, Rao said.
Jagadish Reddy vowed to complete the projects on time as the government vowed to bring under irrigation one crore acres over five years. He accused the previous congress regime of involving in corruption and looting public money in the name of the projects. Corruption had flown in the SRSP canals under second phase during the past congress government he alleged.
He said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is for completing the projects as per plan and schedule. The SRSP project canals are getting top priority and works expedited and filled all the lakes and water bodies he said. The minister also said that all tail end crops of the project in the segments will get irrigation waters during next Yasangi season.
