The Chaderghat police in Hyderabad received a complaint from TRS leaders on Monday, against one Ramakrishna Akuthota, for allegedly posting derogatory comments against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Facebook.
According to reports, the leaders submitted screenshots of the comments to the police, and sought legal action against the netizen.
“The complaint has been sent for legal opinion. Once we receive the legal opinion based on that and after verification of the complaint, we will take necessary action,” G Sattaiah, inspector, Chaderghat police station told Deccan Chronicle.
This development comes after several such similar cases in the state.
Earlier this week, The Telangana police arrested two youths from Mandhapally village in Duggondi mandal of Warangal Rural District, for allegedly abusing the Chief Minister, in a video on Facebook.
As the video began spreading on social media, a complaint was lodged by TRS Duggondi mandal president Akula Srinivas.
A case had been registered under Section 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the IPC and Section 57 of IT Act.
This comes a week after a conductor of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) was suspended from service for posting comments on social media against KCR.
The conductor from Nizamabad-I depot, identified as D Sanjeev, had criticised the government’s policies on Facebook during the Singareni Collieries’ Workers Union election.
Sanjeev allegedly wrote that the government would cheat the coal mine workers as it did to the TSRTC employees.
In his posts, he also wrote against the TSRTC for forcing them to work for at least 16 hours without giving an off, the next day.
One of his posts read, “The government claims that it had given Rs 250 crore to the RTC from the GHMC but in reality, the TSRTC did not get even a single paisa.”
