
Hyderabad, Sept 18 (INN): The Khairatabad Ganesh festival began in Hyderabad on Monday with the installation of the 63-foot-tall, 28-foot-wide clay idol of Maha Ganapati. The idol, which is in the form of Sri Dasha Maha Vidyaganapati this year, is adorned with ten heads and twenty hands.
The first pooja was held at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Prana Pratishtha and Kalashapuja ceremonies. Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, and local MLA Danam Nagender were among the dignitaries who attended the first pooja.
A large number of devotees have been flocking to the Khairatabad Ganesh mandapam since Monday morning. The organizers have made arrangements for the devotees, including drinking water and sanitation facilities. The police have also made strong security arrangements in the surrounding areas.
