Consul General of Turkey in Hyderabad Dr. Adnan Altay Altinors (Rahnuma)

Hyderabad (Rahnuma) Turkey Consulate General in Hyderabad remembers Military Coup attempt in Turkey & fight against FETO. Three important years have passed since the 15th of July coup attempt carried out by the FETO terrorist organization to destroy democracy and national security in Turkey. All the evidence collected so far confirms that the bloodiest terrorist attack in the history of Turkey was orchestrated by FETO under the instructions of Fetullah Gulen and carried out by members of the organization who infiltrated into Turkish military by disobeying the chain of command of the armed forces.

That night, 251 citizens were killed and more than two thousand people were injured. FETO tried to assassinate the President of the Republic of Turkey. The Grand National Assembly and the Presidential Complex were attacked by tanks, F-16 fighters and helicopters from the inventory of the Turkish armed forces. The perpetrators fired at their own people, betrayed their commanders.

The top brass of the Turkish military and an overwhelming majority of the armed forces firmly stood against the attempted overthrow of Turkey’s democratically elected government. Both the police and public prosecutors immediately took necessary measures to foil the attempt.

Above all, it was the Turkish nation who thwarted the plot. They displayed a historic solidarity as they took to the streets and remained defiant. Turkish people fervently and courageously demonstrated to the world that they did not recognize any power over their will and stood ready to sacrifice their lives to protect their State and the democratic system. Hence, the coup attempt was halted only in a few hours.

In order to fully understand all aspects of the coup attempt, it is imperative to consider the dark network of FETO. It all started under the guise of a charitable education effort back in the 1970s. Established by Fethullah Gulen, who is a preacher and a primary school graduate without any religious scholastic background, the ultimate aim of FETO is to control the economic, social and political power through seizing and redesigning all constitutional bodies (legislative, executive and judiciary) of the State.

The organization put kids through school with academic and financial help and mainly a heavy hand in indoctrination. Graduates of these schools turned into unquestioning foot soldiers of Gulen and carried out his instructions unquestioningly and violated all legal and moral norms. They were able to infiltrate the most critical institutions of the State by various ways.

As its strength grew, the organization began to claim a global messianic mission, depicting Fetullah Gulen as the “Imam of the Universe”. Its nerve center is in Pennsylvania, the U.S.

Financing was taken care of by holding companies, donations from the followers, business people, and from laundering enormous sums of money, arranging illegal transfers of cash and other financial crimes.

The organization established media houses to shape the public opinion for and against any person, group or idea. These media houses became focal point of actions taken against journalists, academicians, bureaucrats and military officers who opposed them, or tried to expose them. They were lynched and purged.

Today, FETO has around 800 educational institutions, more than 1000 NGOs and foundations, more than 200 media outlets and around 500 private companies in 160 countries including India.

FETO acts patiently and portray itself as a benevolent civil society organization. It has secretive methods for communication and counter intelligence measures such as using code names, special encrypted communications, “one-dollar bill” with special serial numbers to identify followers.

When the Turkish Government finally understood what was actually taking place, FETO started taking drastic and extreme actions. July 15 was a desperate move to keep their control in place and capture the State which they were aiming to do since the beginning.

FETO actions in Turkey should be considered as a wake-up call for other countries. In many regions. The fight against FETO structures abroad has been among the top priorities of the Government of Turkey. In this context, the concrete examples indicating that FETO violates laws by acting almost like a secretive intelligence service and establishes political and economic zones of influence in other countries are shared by the Turkish Government.

Administrative measures were taken and legal proceedings have been initiated to limit the maneuvering space of the FETO abroad and to prevent its members from transferring money and escaping justice. Turkey requested the extradition of the main ringleaders of the structures of FETO abroad from the countries where these persons are located. Furthermore, the Turkish Maarif Foundation of Turkey maintains its activities all around the world to prevent any shortfalls resulting from the steps taken against FETO, especially in the field of education.

FETO maintains its activities in India and in Hyderabad through its affiliated organizations. Turkish Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (TICCI) claims itself as a business partner and a trade bridge between Turkey and India.

Indialogue Foundation claims itself as an international dialogue and peace organizations hosts and supports events on various themes. Iqbalia International School and Iqbalia Junior College in Hyderabad provide academic and financial help and brainwash young minds. There are a number of FETO affiliated companies in Hyderabad as well. It is striking that the top management of these affiliates are almost the same. The inflow of funds into these organizations needs to be scrutinized carefully by the relevant Indian authorities.

Finally, we salute the heroes who sacrificed and risked their lives for their country and democracy on July 15th, 2016.
