ANKARA (Rahnuma) : Turkish foreign minister on Friday thanked New Zealand authorities for their “sensitivity towards Muslim community” in the wake of last week’s terrorist attacks, which claimed at least 50 lives.
“We thank #NewZealand authorities, in particular PM @JacindaArdern & Deputy PM & FM @WinstonPeters, who attended the OIC [Organization of Islamic Cooperation] Meeting, for labeling the attacks from the beginning as acts of terrorism & their sensitivity towards the Muslim community,” Mevlut Cavusoglu said in a Twitter post.
Earlier on Friday, Peters attended the emergency meeting of the OIC held in Istanbul on New Zealand terror attacks.
“We are in solidarity w/#NewZealand,” Cavusoglu added.
Last Friday, at least 50 Muslims were killed and as many injured when a terrorist — identified as Australian-born Brenton Tarrant, 28, — entered two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand and shot worshippers in cold blood, including four children younger than 18.
