UAE refers 129 violators of government-imposed lockdown to the Attorney General

DUBAI (Rahnuma): UAE authorities referred 129 residents to the Public Prosecutor on Friday for violating a government-imposed lockdown put in place to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country, Emirates News Agency reported.

“Violators of the quarantine decision will be referred to the Emergency Prosecution if it is repeatedly violated more than three times. Punishment could be imprisonment for a period of up to three years or a fine of no less than AED100,000 ($27,226), according to the applicable law,” the Head of the Emergency Prosecution said.

The UAE has recorded 2,990 cases of coronavirus infections, with the death toll at 14.
