Union minister hails KCR govt over Rythu Bandhu scheme

Hyderabad, Nov.19 (NSS): TRS MP Ranjith Reddy today urged the Centre to extend crop investment support of Rs 10,000 per acre to the farmers across the country on the lines of Telangana State under Rythu Bandhu scheme.

Talking in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, the TRS MP explained that the Telangana State government was providing Rs 10,000 per acre to farmers in the State, while the Centre was offering Rs 6,000 for farmers with five acres in the country. Since farmers welfare is key, the amount was increased from Rs 8,000 per acre to Rs 10,000 per acre in Telangana, he informed. The Centre can replicate the Telangana scheme to help farmers avoid extreme steps and avoid loan problems, he suggested.

In addition to 24-hour free power supply to farmers, the Telangana government offers the amount of Rs 50,000 being offered to farmers with five acres and it will be a big boost to overcome loans and push for agriculture and economic growth, the TRS leader said.

Responding to this, Union Agriculture Minister Purushotham Rupala said the Centre was giving Rs 6,000 for first time in the country. The amount was being deposited into the accounts of the farmers directly, he noted. Some States are implementing welfare schemes for farmers and greeted Telangana State for doing well, he added.
